One of the first songs we ever rehearsed with Here Be Dragons. This was before the first Dragons' tour but obviously it applies when you're away and the loved one is back home.
I remember hearing the riff played on the accordion for the first time and deciding that the accordion would be very important for the Dragons' sound.
Lying in bed late at night tired and depressed
My eyes are heavy but my mind is racing and I'm trying to get some rest
One of us in bed in a far away place the other in bed at home
Two of us too far apart trying to sleep alone
I reach my hand across the bed it feels empty and cold
It'd be so easy to get some sleep if I had you here to hold
Thinking back to our conversation saying goodnight on the phone
Thinking of you thnking of me trying to sleep alone
I hear the ticking of the clock the occasional car outside
But I can't hear you breathing gently by my side
Trying to cuddling up to the wall but you can't snuggle stone
I'm tired and lonely and I'm fed up with trying to sleep alone
I can hog the duvet have all the pillows too
I can have the window shut or open but what I want is you
If I snore or talk in my sleep theres no way you can moan
You can't moan but I can't sleep and I'm trying to sleep alone
Counting the hours 'till we're together instead of counting sleep
Catch up on lost time with each other and catcvh up on lost sleep
And when then long dark night comes we won't face it on our own
'Till then my dear I'm stuck here trying to sleep alone
