Valentine's Bride (M. Brooks)
Weddings can end up a drunken affair.
She was a Valentine's bride her heart swelled with pride
But she shed a tear on her wedding day
“That's meant to be unlucky” said her auntie from Kentucky
But young wives ignore what old ones say
This morning her dad said he was proud to see her wed
But was surprised it had come around so soon
And as they smiled at one another it was then she heard her mother
Shouting to her father as they left the room
CHORUS
Later on tonight if you play your cards right
I might even let you kiss me
I want you to stay able leave that bottle on the table
And don't drink the moonshine whiskey
Her Irish uncle Jack was over for the craic
But his wife didn't even crack a smile
But they all chose to ignore her from the moment that they saw her
Brother and niece processing down the aisle
The Wedding went as planned the bride was wedded to her man
Relieved he hadn't left her in the lurch
And as the belle they were a ringing and the people were a singing
Whispered to her husband as they left the church
CHORUS
They got in the wedding car they didn't drive too far
To her parents house for the reception
The best man wasn't subtle when he joked that the couple
Could save a fortune now in contraception
Later as her mother feared father left then reappeared
With his son in law and something form the yard
They started drinking form the bottle and quoting Aristotle
And mother and daughter gave the yellow card
CHORUS
The men feared for their lives gave a bottle to their wives
Who decided then to have a little taste
And when they got a taste for it they began to pour it
Down their necks until they got shit faced
All the bottles they got sunk al the people they got drunk
The parents were so sloshed they couldn't speak
The newly weds were wrecked and crashed on to the deck
And couldn't consummate they marriage for a week
CHORUS
